Foh Chuan has been a beloved name in KK’s food scene, especially for those who grew up enjoying their iconic dishes. I’ve been a regular since my college days where the wok hei, smoky and charred taste of their dishes was unforgettable - truly a hallmark of their cooking style.
Sadly, after their expansion to Millennium Plaza, now under the third generation, the magic seems to be fading... On my recent visit, I ordered their signature stir-fried salted veggies with housemade BBQ and roasted pork over rice noodles for lunch.
Anyhow, it fell short— there’s no wok hei, just an overpowering sour and salty taste from the gravy without the complexity I remembered. The dish felt rushed cooking though, as if the care and technique that made Foh Chuan special were missing…
Frankly speaking, some of the dishes don’t taste the same as before but their BBQ and roasted pork still delivers. Although not quite the old classic Foh Chuan style already but still a decent spot for their classic roasted meats and people still coming for it.
Kthxbye.
