Mr. Hubby was still hanging from yesterday's Foo Chow cravings, so today he brought me to our favourite spot to fix it. As expected, the food didn't disappoint.

Everything was seasoned well, authentic flavours that felt nostalgic and deeply satistying. One of the highlights was the red wine wonton soup with egg.

Every time we came before, it was always sold out. As we taste, the broth carrying that subtle and earthy red wine without overpowering the pork wontons.

The scrambled egg with ginger slices swirled into the soup added a luscious texture, making every spoonful velvety and comforting like homemade.

To round out the meal, I couldn't resist adding on a side of their housemade fried pork to go with my rice. It's a simple additions that completely elevates the meal.

The only downside was the heat; it was uncomfortably which made it hard for us to stay longer and slowly savour the foods we ordered.

Still, the quality of the food made braving the heat worthwhile, and looking forward for next visit! They're available in GrabFood as well, check'em out!

🍜 Feeling WONTON Of Love In Each Bite 🤤 

After a long day at work, there’s nothing more comforting than heading to my favourite supper place. My go-to order is always the garlic cheese naan set with chicken tandoori — and tonight’s meal was absolutely spot-on! 

The naan was perfectly crispy yet chewy, loaded with just the right amount of garlicky, cheesy goodness.

What really made tonight stand out was the chicken tandoori. Normally, I’m used to it being a little burnt (which I’ve gotten used to), but today it was cooked beautifully — tender, juicy without being overly charred. 

Mr Hubby decided to try something different and ordered the Mee Goreng Mamak. 

Honestly, it was way better than I expected — packed with wok hei, spicy, and not too greasy. I know why this place is always bustling with people, even though the hygiene standards could use a little improvement.

All in all, the food more than makes up for it. Definitely still my favourite spot for a satisfying supper!

🌶️ Mee Goreng? More Like Mee Glorious 🫓 

Recently, a Sarawak Foo Chow cuisine eatery went viral on social media for its generous portions at incredibly affordable prices. Being Foo Chow himself, Mr. Hubby was intrigued, so we decided to check it out for breakfast.

When we arrived, parking was a real challenge — limited spaces, lots of double parking, and if you’re driving a bigger car, good luck trying to maneuver around. Despite that, we managed to find a spot and headed in.

The place can get quite hot, but we were impressed by how ridiculously fast the service was — both food and drinks were served almost immediately. Unfortunately, that’s where most of the positives ended.

The food and drinks were bland, almost bordering on tasteless. The wontons were passable, but the soup was overwhelmed by onion oil. Mr. Hubby wasn’t pleased that his noodles were served cold. 

My pickled vegetable soup tasted purely sour with no other flavor profile. Teh C presentation was like Teh Tarik but tasteless. While the portions lived up to the hype, the overall taste was disappointing.

 Error 4️⃣0️⃣4️⃣: Taste Not Found 

I want to try their new lunch menu promo—Set B. I WhatsApped them to check if it was available, they’re quick and polite responsive but sadly, it was already sold out. Hence, I ended up going with Set C instead.

Set C came with sashimi (red snapper, maguro, salmon, and butter fish), rice, miso soup, and prawns. The sashimi was fresh overall, but the red snapper slices had skin that was tough and basically unchewable.

The prawns were small, peeled and deveined, deep fried, then tossed in their house-made mayo. The mayo was on the sweet side—balanced with the miso soup. All in all, it was a decent lunch set meal.

🍤 Set C: Deep Fried Shrimps & Mayo Schemes 🥢

I bet most of the people probably know about this budget friendly steamboat restaurant, they also offers stir-fried noodles and rice plates. 

Mr. Hubby had previously ordered via GrabFood and it were not bad, so we decided to dine in. We WhatsApp them before, and they responded shortly after.

The food portions were generous—I couldn’t even finish mine! Each dish came with a small bowl of tomato soup (prolly the steamboat base), salty and sour. 

Unfortunately, the rice noodles were overcooked and caused them to lost their bite. They were so soft and it’s like they’re melting in the mouth. 

The service crews were attentive and fast, they providing cutleries soaked in hot water and a side of green cili potong with soy sauce.  

However, the dining experience had some downsides. The table and seats felt oily when we sat down, and hygiene could definitely be improved. 

Behind our table (near the payment counter), there were huge piles of stacked stocks, which immediately triggered Mr. Hubby’s allergies—likely due to dust. 

If you're not sensitive to dust and prioritize hearty meals, this place might still be worth a try—just maybe opt for delivery next time.

🦐 From GrabFood to Grab-A-Seat 🥢

I was craving Western meals for a late lunch after work, so I asked Mr Hubby to bring me here. I had no idea they closed at 5pm daily, but lucky me—despite I reached an hour before they close, they still took my order.

🌭Classic minced beef coney sausage with housemade Frankfurt bun and side of fries 
🍄‍🟫Mushroom Chicken Chop served with side of fries and coleslaw 

First, let’s talk about that Frankfurt bun.

The moment I took a bite, I was blown away. The house-made bun was perfectly crispy on the outside, yet still light inside without heavy dough-like. It’s the kind of texture I don’t expect anyhow instantly fall in love with. 

And that filling? A rich, flavourful bolognese-style minced beef and with just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting. It wasn’t exactly like the menu photo, but honestly, it tasted even BETTER than I imagined. 

I also tried Mr. Hubby’s mushroom chicken chop. The gravy leaned salty (his kind of thing), but the real surprise for me was the coleslaw—fresh, creamy, and nicely balanced. A great contrast to the hearty main.

Service was spot-on: fast, polite, and attentive. As someone who eats with both heart and curiosity, I walked away feeling well-fed and genuinely satisfied. This place may close early, but it delivers big flavour in every bite.

🌭BUN-appétit, SAUSAGE-ly Deliciouso 🍟

I’ve been eyeing on this place’s brunch menu for a while, and I finally got the chance to visit. 

I ordered 
Braised Pork Belly dry mix with Yunnan Thick Rice Noodle, 
Yunnan Mille Feuille with Sweet Sauce, 
Wontons in Red Spicy Oil, and
their Housemade Sour Plum Juice. 

The Braised Pork Belly was the star of the show—thick, juicy, and incredibly flavorful. I like the fat melted in my mouth, yummilicious! Paired with the springy and chewy Yunnan thick rice noodles. 

The Yunnan Mille Feuille was another standout. The service staff said it’s handmade and takes about 30 minutes to bake, but the wait was worth it. Crispy, flaky layers paired with the sweet-sour sauce were nicey. 

The Wontons in Red Spicy Oil were decent but didn’t wow me as much as the other dishes—good flavor, but nothing extraordinary. I wash it all down with their refreshing Housemade Sour Plum Juice. 

Everything was satisfied, only that I wish I can upload the pork belly fat jiggled in my plate video.

🐷 PORK BELLY FAT-astically Melted In Your Mouth 🤤 

The last time I visited, this place was operating just out of their iconic small window, but now they’ve leveled up into their own cozy cafe! 

I ordered their signature Prawn Mayo and Roe with Buttered Long Bun, and added a sunny side-up egg on top—such a delicious upgrade! 

The flavours were satisfying, with the creamy prawn mayo and roe pairing with the buttery bun. The egg yolk added a fine oozing, making it such indulgence. 

I also had a glass of hot cham, which was smooth and comforting with my meal. My colleague ordered the Aglio Olio Prawns and spaghetti Teriyaki with chicken ham. 

They enjoyed it, though they mentioned the portion was a bit small for their appetite. Still, the taste was on point—garlicky, savoury, and well-balanced.  

Overall, it’s a great spot for a casual brunch or light meal especially for those who’ve kids. The food is tasty, however some might find the portions modest.

🦐 BUN-derful and ROE-manticizing In Every Bite 🥖 

I’ve been a loyal fan of Uncle Gerry’s Recipe Nasi Kerabu since they first started at Kepayan, followed by their outlets at City Mall and now Foh Shang. 

The owner, also my customer told me they’ve relocated to Ron’s Kopitiam in Foh Shang, operating as a stall now. I am so excited and went for dinner with Mr Hubby.  

Unfortunately, only 2 options were left when we reached around 0530pm—but no regrets! We both agreed that the fried chicken was absolutely yummy.

The skin was crispy, and didn’t leave any greasy aftertaste on the lips, still the same familiar taste I love! The rendang, however, was just decent.   

The quality and flavour remained consistent, Uncle Garry’s has always delivered satisfying meals, and this visit proved they’re still going strong.

🤤 RICE-diculously Tasty After All These Years 💙

On yesterday rainy evening, I am crave for deep fried milkfish and squid, thus I suggested Mr Hubby to visit this spot again because it’s the nearest to where we stay. 

The place has renovated, and no more suffocating kitchen smoke inside, and ordering is now done at a counter near the entrance before finding seat. 

I ordered the milkfish set, upgrading to nasi kuning for an extra charge, I added a side of deep-fried squid, and requesting the sambal to be served separately. 

Mr Hubby tried the Nasi Kuning with deep-fried chicken set, which looked delicious at the menu and he wanted to try it during our first visit but sold out. 

The milkfish and chicken was crispy outside with flavorful spices coating, and the nasi kuning was fragrant. However, there were some frustrating issues… 

Despite the place is air conditioned, the coffee shop felt warm, flies and mosquitoes were buzzing around during the meal, which was irritating. I got stung too!

The kitchen forgot my side order of squid and failed to separate the sambal as requested. By the time I had finished my meal, I requested to cancel it. 

Initially, the counter lady was reluctant to refund, but I was in a hurry to airport, eventually she processed it after kitchen crews informed that they have not cook yet.

🦑 SQUID Pro Quo: But Where Was It ⁉️

Back in the day, there weren’t many western diners and coffee shop offering Western-style dinners, but this place stood out as one of the popular options. 

Until today, it is famous among locals, it’s always packed with regular patrons who keep coming back for its hearty portion and the nostalgic vibe.  

Despite moving locations a few times, new operating hours, and raising prices over the years, loyal customers still flock here to enjoy with friends and family. 

During my recent visit, I ordered lamb chop, it was delightfully tender, while Mr Hubby had the pork belly (no picture), firm texture with charred and smoky edge. 

The lamb chop served with mint sauce, a side of golden crinkle cut crispy fries (my fav), baked tomato and corn. All taste good with simple chilli and tomato sauce. 

We both enjoyed our meals thoroughly despite full house and hot weather. The service crews worked alertly, ensuring fast and efficiency even during peak hours.

🥩 MEAT You Here Tonight 🍴 

A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this burger food truck while browsing Instagram. Intrigued by their limited operating days (only Friday to Sunday) and they accept a limited number of orders, I decided to check them out. 

I reached out via DM to ask about their menu, and I was pleasantly surprised by their quick and friendly response.  

Last weekend after work, I visited and ordered their double brisket burger patties, which came with a side of curry and salt-seasoned thin fries. The burger patties were pressed thin, and while the flavour was decent.

What truly stood out was their house-made burger buns - soft, pillowy and it elevated the whole experience.  

The fries were crispy with a mild curry twist. While waiting, I had a casual chat with one of the young servers, who mentioned that both he and the head chef previously worked at The Hearth in Sutera Avenue. 

Overall, it was a solid burger experience although the patties didn’t blow me away.
