Tucked discreetly under the white staircase near the ABC Damai is a humble stall that does not advertise, does not posture, and does not disappoint.

I come here for one thing - HINAVA. Always fresh, always clean, and always hit with a generous squeeze of calamansi that brings the perfect tang.

What seals the deal is the shredded green mango mixed in for extra sour and super addictive. Paired with hot steamed rice, it’s a simple combo that just works.

No overcomplication of ingredients, just slices of tomatoes, some chilli padi, probably some sugar and that’s it. Clean flavour, yet full satisfaction.

My second favourite is the deep-fried mini squid. Served hot, crunchy on the outside, and dangerously snackable. Pair perfect with any condiments and white rice.

Best part? Hinava plus the deep fried squid for only MYR9. Sometimes, I took veggies with Hinava and it’s just MYR8. In today’s economy, it’s definitely a WIN!
